Born in Louga in 1935, Abdou
Diouf worked with President
Senghor from 1963.
He was appointed as Minister of Plan and Industry
in 1968 and Prime Minister in 1970.
On January 1st, 1981 he became President of
the Republic of Senegal and was re-elected
in 1983, 1988 and 1993.
On March 17th, he lost the 2000 presidential
election and was replaced by Abdoulaye
Wade.
